Here at ést.lab, we believe in the #scienceinbeauty - transformative formulas backed by Science with the best ingredients that actually work (no fluff, just proven results).

To protect the integrity of our ingredients and formulations, most of our product packaging utilise an airless pump technology to ensure optimal product usage and to prevent the product from being exposed to contaminants in the air, ensuring that it remains fresh with every use.

What is Airless Pump Technology All About?

It may look similar to other products you’ve used in the past but under the surface, there are no pumps or straws inside to force the product out of the packaging. Instead, we use an airless pump delivery system which is hygienic, consistent and simple to use.

There are three parts to an airless pump packaging:

THE BASE:

There's a tiny hole in the base, that powers the vacuum effect and pushes air towards the plate

THE PLATE:

Inside the bottle, there is a plate (or a disc) of which your skincare product sits on.

THE PUMP:

A vacuum effect is created by the pumping action to extract the product.

With every pumping action, the product that sits on the plate (within the packaging) is pushed upwards by the vacuum effect— air goes into the hole at the packaging's base, pushing the plate that holds the product, and pushes it upwards.

Benefits of Airless Pump Technology

It is super hygienic. Airless pump delivery system stops excess air, dirt, pollutants etc. from coming into contact with the product, thus reducing product contamination.

The removal of internal straws and basing the movement of product on air intake systems and vacuums inhibit microbial growth and helps preserve the product efficacy and freshness longer than traditional packaging.

The airless pump system dispenses product in metered quantities to ensure consistent application and allows for every last bit of product to be easily extracted.

Less preservatives are used as the integrity of the content can remain stable throughout its use.

Things To Note When Using Your Airless Pump Bottles For The First Time:

When you first receive your product, hold the bottle upright and pump slowly. This will create the vacuum necessary to dispense the product and essentially activate the vacuum pump system. Since our bottles do not contain a straw, it's important to note that a few empty pumps at the beginning is completely normal - some bottles may take up to 10-30 pumps.

If you are not getting the product after 10 pumps, we recommend priming the pump. Start by putting the cap back on the bottle, then hold your bottle upside down and gently tap the top of the bottle against a flat surface. This should get the product moving.

Things To Note When Using Your Airless Pump Tubes For The First Time:

When you first receive your product, hold the tube upright and pump slowly. This will create the vacuum necessary to dispense the product and essentially activate the vacuum pump system. Since our tubes do not contain a straw it's important to note that a few empty pumps at the beginning is completely normal - some tubes may take up to 10-30 pumps. Refrain from pressing/squeezing the tube.

If you are not getting the product after 10 pumps, we recommend priming the pump. Start by putting the cap back on the tube, then leave your tube upright for a couple of minutes. This should get the product moving.

Things To Note When Using Your Airless Pump Jars For The First Time:

When you first receive your product, hold the jar upright and pump slowly with both hands, one on each side. This will create the vacuum necessary to dispense the product and essentially activate the vacuum pump system. Since our jars do not contain a straw, it's important to note that a few empty pumps at the beginning is completely normal - some jars may take up to 10-30 pumps.

If you are not getting the product after 10 pumps, we recommend priming the pump. Start by putting the cap back on the jar, then hold your jar upside down and gently tap the top of the jar against a flat surface. This should get the product moving.

My Bottle/Jar/Pump Seems To Be Empty. Can I Open It?

If you have just received the product and are experiencing issues pumping out the product, please do not attempt to force open the packaging as this can damage the airless pump system. Please start by prepping the packaging as per instructions aforementioned.
